I don’t know about you, but I hate being sick. I mean, I am the biggest baby. It’s good I live alone, because I don’t want to talk to anyone, I hate loud noises, I whine and make noises not normally heard from the living. Even my dogs know to stay away. Let’s be really honest, being sick with a cold or the flu sucks!
I’m not one for taking loads of medication to help my situation. I really dislike the wooziness or drowsiness that comes with over-the-counter remedies. Sure, I may get some immediate relief, but the after-effects make me feel worse. So I looked for natural remedies—and just in time, because I was hit with a horrible head and chest cold.
Natural Remedies I Tried:
-
Vitamins: Vitamin C (oranges) helped me feel better. Vitamin D (sunlight and supplements) seemed to boost my energy.
-
Hot Tea: Green tea with lemon and honey helped congestion. I also made a “magic tea” with apple cider vinegar, lemon, and honey.
-
Garlic: Tried Allimed garlic supplements—noticed a big improvement by the next morning.
-
Steam Showers: Helped with nasal congestion and sleep.
-
Nose Blowing: Learned the right way to blow my nose to avoid earaches.
-
Extra Pillow: Elevating my head helped reduce coughing and improve sleep.
-
Infection-Fighting Foods: I made juices with citrus, blueberries, spinach, and Spirulina. Foods like carrots, cranberries, onions, and chili peppers also help.
Please remember: if symptoms persist or are severe, consult a doctor—especially for sinus infections, bronchitis, or other serious conditions.
