GARLIC FOR LYME DISEASE?
May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month, and with millions of people suffering from symptoms of a mysterious disease, Allimax brings you resources to help you understand the real story behind Lyme disease—and how to find your way back to health.
What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks (deer ticks or black-legged ticks), commonly found in wooded and grassy areas. It is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, a spirochete similar to the one that causes syphilis. Found in the U.S. and over 60 countries, Lyme disease is often called the “Great Imitator” because it mimics conditions like ADD, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Alzheimer’s, Depression, MS, and more.
Common symptoms include:
Fever, rash, muscle pain, fatigue, chills, joint swelling, heart issues, numbness, headaches, arthritis, and inflammation of the eyes or liver. While Lyme disease is not contagious, early removal of a tick can reduce the risk of infection. Prompt treatment is essential to prevent the bacteria from spreading to the nervous system, heart, or joints.
Garlic as a Natural Ally
Garlic is a natural remedy known for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antibiotic properties. It can help reduce inflammation and fight bacterial infections associated with Lyme. Its sulfur compounds, secreted through sweat, may also naturally repel ticks.
